One Night Stand Handbag

Going out for one night close by and don’t need to carry a lot? This is your bag! It’s big enough to one change of clothes, a brush, and small cosmetic bag. It also makes a great everyday handbag if you like a little room to store your wallet, notepad, paperback, brush, cosmetics, keys and sunglasses.

Made from tan suede and medium weight cotton in neutral browns, this bag is perfect for any season and can go with any outfit. The fabric has that nice carpetbag texture and is lined in dark brown or tan cotton. It was constructed with heavyweight stabilizer to stand on it’s own. It is sewn by machine and finished by hand. Zipper closure.

14” W x 9”H x 4.5” D
35.5cm x 23cm x 11.5 cm
7”/17.5cm handle height from top of bag

Indiepublic.com is celebrating their second anniversary this month. If you haven’t heard of Indiepublic, it’s a neutral place to discover and/or network with handcrafting artisans. It’s for buyers and sellers. There is no selling there, it’s just a place for people to interact and show off what they’ve been working on, and where people can talk about crafting – techniques and such. It’s a wonderful little community!

To celebrate, they are holding a raffle each day in August. Artisans have donated items to be raffled off with proceeds going to a charity and to build a scholarship to support independent artists. I have donated a Fresh As a Daisy Handbag. There are lots of beautiful items being raffled off – go check it out!

If you’re stopping by as part of the Sew What Blog Tour, welcome! This blog contains my musings as I create collections, one-of-a-kind items and custom projects. My main website is Callidora’s, but of course the purpose of this blog tour is to promore my Artfire shop πŸ™‚

As part of this promotion, I am holding a little contest. The theme of the tour is “pink and green”, so the prize is a child-sized pink and green apron or a pink corduroy upcycled handbag. How to win? Leave a comment with your answers to the following questions:

1. What is your favorite item in my Artfire shop?
2. How old was I when I learned to sew?
3. What does “Callidora” mean?
4. Which prize would like to win?

Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you if you are the winner. And here’s a little hint – all the answers can be found in my Artfire shop or on this blog.

Also, if you like giveaways, please feel free to sign up for my monthly newsletter on my main website. I give something away every month to a newsletter subscriber. And if you are just getting started doing a little sewing of your own, check out the Tutorial page. The tab is at the very top of this blog. I just started this feature, so check back since I will be adding more.

Anyone who subscribes to my newsletter and this blog will receive an additional entry in the contest. Enjoy the tour and don’t forget to check Cotton Spice for the next new blog you get to visit πŸ™‚

Name that Dress Contest!

I’m almost finished making one of the dresses for my Formals collection, but I’m stumped on the name. I’ve decided to hold a contest to see what you guys can come up with!

The Rules:
1. The name can’t be obscene or too “adult” in nature. We are a family-friendly establishment.

2. The name can’t be just a girl’s name (i.e. The Sarah Dress).

3. The name should evoke a feeling or a good memory, or it could be a play on words. (If you want an example of what I mean, see the names of my handbags in the Spring Collection.)

How to Play:
1. You should either leave your name submission on Callidora’s blog as a comment to the Contest post, or
2. You may leave it on Callidora’s Facebook page.

3. Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you if you are the winner. (email, snail mail, phone, whatever)

4. You may submit no more than 2 entries, all others will be discarded.

The Prize:
1. You will be credited with your winning name when it goes onto my website for sale.

2. You will receive a one-of-a-kind half apron from Callidora’s and fair-trade organic coffee beans from Zippity Duda. A retail value of $30.

This contest will run from Saturday, April 11 until Thursday, April 30, 2009. A photo of the dress will be available here when the contest opens.

Good luck and thanks for your help!
